Sunday and the Son of God

According to the polls, 40% of Americans will attend a church service in two days. Why then? What makes Sunday better than Thursday for public worship?

The DaVinci Code states as fact: "Originally, Christianity honored the Jewish Sabbath of Saturday, but Constantine shifted it to coincide with the pagan's veneration day of the sun. . . . To this day, most churchgoers attend services on Sunday morning with no idea that they are there on account of the pagan sun god's weekly tribute--Sunday" (pp. 232-3, emphasis his). Is this true?

First century documents make clear that Christians worshiped on Sunday, centuries before Constantine. In AD 150, Justin the Martyr records that "on the day called Sunday," Christians gather to worship Jesus for the Lord's Day. The novel is simply, on the merits, wrong.
