Alligators and the love of God
Have you heard about the recent alligator attacks in Florida? A woman was found inside the mouth of an alligator during a snorkeling trip. Friends pulled her out and took her to shore, where she was pronounced dead. The same day, the body of a woman was found in a canal, with bite marks on her body consistent with those made by an alligator. Another woman was apparently attacked by an alligator as she was out jogging. She was dragged into a canal and killed.
Officials say such attacks are rare, but they cannot be prevented entirely. One put matters bluntly: "if someone doesn't want to face the risk of an alligator attack, they should live in a state with no alligators."
Why did a loving and all-powerful God make a world with alligators and hurricanes and AIDS? Where is that question personal and practical for you on this Monday morning? Evil and suffering pose the hardest question Christianity must face. For responses, I invite you to godissues.com today.
